End of Season Awards 2004/2005 Season
The 3 awards for the 2004/2005 season were:
Players Player
This is obviously voted for by the players themselves and once again was very close this season, it probably says a lot that all but one vote went to the 4 defenders and goalkeeper this season.
For the
first time we had a tie this year which is extremely appropriate because the following
description applies equally to both players. The players have been absolutely rock solid,
they have been strong, fast, good headers of the ball, brave and have a perfect attitude
both are very quiet and placid off the pitch but can be as strong as anyone once on
the pitch. Both have been given strict man-marking instructions in various games and have
carried them out to perfection and there have been numerous occasions where one or the
other has appeared from nowhere to knock an attacker off the ball. A wise old man once
said that you put your best player in central defence so congratulations to James Dorling and Matthew Longson.
Managers Player
This was
won by a player whose skills have always been very evident and have continued to improve
this season but he has taken a major stride forward by adding a strength, determination
and work rate to that skill. He is a good character to have around, reliable, mature, a
player who is still improving with every game and is a joy to watch, he makes the
impossible look easy, has scored a few goals and has shone in his role as captain this
season Joe Graffham
Team Player
The well
deserved winner was a player who has performed wonders all season on the pitch. I can
remember at this stage last season that we mentioned that teamwork and attitude were taken
into account and I heard this player mutter its not me then!. How things
have changed, his behaviour has been almost impeccable, he has knuckled down this season,
demonstrating excellent concentration and ability on the pitch, making some truly
spectacular saves at crucial times and is now certainly one of the best goalkeepers in the
division. Alex McGregor
