Sizewell & Knodishall 2 Brantham 2

In the eighth minute the Knodishall goalie picked up a back pass under pressure from Jason. Ed rolled the free kick for Joe to smash home. Both teams had good spells of pressure without creating any shots on goal until Knodishall hit a long shot that dropped over Alex's head to equalise well into injury time.

Seven minutes into the second half James Glen was adjudged to have tripped a Knodishall player in the area but Alex pulled off an excellent save from the resultant penalty. Nine minutes later Jason and Joe combined well down the right and Joe found Matthew Longson on the half way line, Matt knocked the ball behind the defence and raced through leaving defenders in his wake before coolly sliding the ball under the advancing keeper to complete an excellent goal. With 10 minutes to go Knodishall equalised from a breakaway that caught the Brantham defence sleeping.

A draw was probably a fair reflection overall, highlights being Alex's penalty save and Matt's goal. Everyone put in a lot of effort and good work with the back four having particularly good games but man of the match went to Joe Graffham in his first game as captain for an outstanding work rate throughout the whole 70 minutes that was capped by a well taken goal and an assist.

Brantham 1 Felixstowe 3

Within a minute Felixstowe took the lead when a cross was put in from the right and 2 Brantham defenders failed to deal with it allowing an easy chance to the Felixstowe forward on the left side of the goal. Eight minutes later a Felixstowe striker ran onto a ball over the top and managed to hold off James Dorling to score the second. Brantham started to play better football and were in the ascendancy during the last ten minutes.

Brantham continued to play well in the second half but had to rely on an outstanding performance from Alex McGregor to keep them in the game including one full length dive to knock a shot round the post. In the 55th minute Josh Bedingfield headed the ball to Matt Longson who found Joe Graffham and Joe sent a shot looping over the keeper to make the score 1-2. Joe found the back of the net again but only after the whistle had gone for a head injury on a Felixstowe player. Brantham continued to search for the equaliser but conceded in the final minute which was followed by a booking for Jamie Nunn giving a final score of 1-3.

Brantham 1 Kesgrave 9

Conceded in 12, 34 and 38 minute of first half.Alex injured in a foul, struggled on to half time but had to come off. Conceded after 5, 19 and 28 mins before Joe set James Dorling (playing up front) up to run through and score. Then conceded in 33, 34 and 35 minutes of second half. Dreadful performance almost across the board, Toby getting man of the match. A performance that needs to be learned from and then forgotten!

Lawford 0 Brantham 5

The match was fairly scrappy during the first half with no real attempts on goal for either side until the 27th minute when Josh Maloney did well to win the ball and knocked a pass for Joe Graffham to take on and smash into the far right corner. In injury time of the first half Jamie Nunn played a superb ball through for Ed Nobbs to place in the far corner to make the half-time score 0-2 to Brantham.

Nine minutes into the second half Jason took the ball down the right and crossed for Ed to score his second from close range. Eight minutes later Josh Bedingfield produced an excellent through ball for Jamie Nunn to run through and score. In the 24th minute of the second half another good throw from Toby Prior found Jamie Nunn who scored his second goal of the game.

A very good performance from everyone in the team but man of the match went to James Dorling for an absolutely outstanding performance in central defence, closely followed by Toby Prior with yet another good performance.

What a difference a week makes!

Brantham 4 Bacton 5

Bacton started brightly and scored in the 2nd, 7th and 9th minutes thanks to some sloppy defending by Brantham. In the 15th minute Ed Nobbs weaved his way down the left and crossed for Jason to score. In the 25th minute Bacton made it 4-1, 2 minutes later Jason crossed from the right for Craig Lock to score his first of the season before more slack marking allowed a Bacton player to turn and shoot to make it 2-5 at half time.

Three minutes into the second half Luke Catchpole hit a high shot from distance which the keeper only parried and Ed Nobbs followed up to make it 3-5. Five minutes later Jason made an aerial challenge that resulted in a collision with the goalie, the ball fell to Matthew Longson who executed an excellent lob over the keeper into the net but Jason had to be carried off and played no further part in the match. This reduced Brantham to 10 men and they continued to battle and look the better side but could not score. James Glen make a superb tip over to keep hopes alive but it was too much in the end. Ed Nobbs had an impressive game up front but James Dorling again stole the show with a commanding second half performance.

Considering that Jamie Nunn, Joe Graffham and Alex McGregor were not available and most of the second half was played with 10 men the second half performance was extremely good, but for the poor start it could have been a very different outcome.

Brantham 1 Bourne Vale 5

Started 5-3-2. After 3 minutes Josh Bryan headed off his own goal-line but 6 minutes later a Bourne Vale cross was poorly dealt with for an easy 1-0 lead. On 17 minutes a long ball put Vale in on goal but Alex McGregor made a good save, Alex then made a good block just before half-time at the edge of his area to keep the score at 0-1.

Matthew Longson came on for James Glen at half time to go 4-3-3. Within 3 minutes poor marking allowed Vale to go 0-2 up. In the 45th minute a Joe Graffham corner was cleared for Toby Prior to score his first goal from the edge of the box. Poor clearing gave Vale their third 6 minutes later. Jamie Nunn blazed over the bar from 8 yards in the 60th minute before Vale scored the best goal on 65 minutes lobbing Alex from 20 yards out. Bourne Vale added a fifth with a breakaway in the 70th minute.

Men of the match were James Dorling (surprise, surprise), Alex McGregor and Toby Prior(with an ankle injury).

Woodbridge 5 Brantham 5

After 2 minutes Luke Catchpole took a free kick which Josh Bedingfield headed and Jason lobbed the keeper to give Brantham the lead. Two minutes later Woodbridge equalised following a goal mouth scramble. In the eleventh minute a lone Woodbridge player ran onto a through ball and took it wide of the advancing Alex and slotted home to give Woodbridge a 2-1 lead.Brantham equalised after 20 minutes when Josh Bedingfield made a good run down the right and made a quick turn to cross for Joe Graffham to turn and shoot low to the right. Woodbridge took a lead into half-time when Alex's goal kick went straight to the nearest Woodbridge player who lobbed it over Alex's head to make it 3-2.

A minute into the second half Jamie and Joe played a neat one-two for Jamie Nunn to put a left-footed shot in the far corner. Woodbridge took the lead again in the 44th minute with another run through the defence. Within a minute Jamie Nunn claimed his second when his free kick was headed into the Woodbridge net by a defender. It then took until the 58th minute for Woodbridge to resume the lead and a minute before the whistle Josh Bedingfield won the ball on the left and crossed for Jason to neatly lay the ball back for Josh Maloney's deflected shot to make the final score 5-5.

Man of the match was Josh Bedingfield for some excellent tackling and passing including 2 assists.

Brantham 3 Martlesham 0

After some good play on the left by Ed in the eleventh minute the ball broke loose and Josh Maloney hooked the ball over his own head perfectly for Jamie Nunn to run onto and fire into the right corner of the net. Despite a lot of pressing from Brantham the score remained 1-0 at half-time.

Twenty eight minutes into the second half Jamie Nunn won the ball on the right and rode a couple of strong challenges before hitting a superb ball out to the left wing. Toby ran onto it and crossed hard and low from the corner for Joe Graffham to side foot home from close range. With a minute left some good work by Craig on the right was half-cleared in the air to Josh Bedingfield on the edge of the box, Josh swung at the ball but mis-cued it to Joe Graffham who ran in at a tight angle on the right and buried his shot to make it 3-0.

Much better performance from each individual and as a team. Everyone played very well - those that came on as subs and those that came off. Matt played extremely well again in defence, Josh Bedingfield had another very good game and Ed worked well down the left in the first half while the front two worked and battled tirelessly throughout the match and did not get as much reward as they deserved. Alex was once again confident and commanding with some excellent kicking but Josh Bryan just shaded man of the match from everyone else on the pitch with an extremely solid and professional performance throughout the game.

Woodbridge 4 Brantham 2(AET)

In the fifteenth minute Jamie Nunn beat some players down the left before putting a fantastic ball across the face of the goal which Josh Bryan ran onto and hit on the volley to give Brantham the lead. Brantham continued to play well with the defence looking very good until in the last minute of the first half Alex lost the ball and Woodbridge scored into an empty net.

Fifteen minutes into the second half Jamie Nunn took a free kick which found its way through the crowded box and into the goal. Five minutes later James Dorling made an excellent last-ditch tackle in his own penalty area but the ball fell to another forward who scored from close range which took the game to extra-time. On the very stroke of half-time Woodbridge took the lead for the first time despite the fact that Toby was fouled in the build up - the flagging linesman was overruled by the referee. Woodbridge completed the scoring half-way through the second period of extra time to make the score 4-2.

Man of the match awards went to Matthew Longson for an exceptional display at the centre of defence narrowly edging out Josh Bryan who had an excellent game, scoring a well taken goal and clearing a shot off the line at the other end. Overall a very good display which could have gone the other way with a bit more luck on the day.

Brantham 2 Whitton 4

In the fifth minute Joe Graffham took a free kick on the left-hand side from 20+ yards out which James Glen lunged at in the penalty area which was enough to distract the goalie and the ball drifted into the net. In the 15th minute the ball was hit hard across the goal and Whitton turned the ball in following a scramble. Whitton took the lead when Alex tried to grab hold of the ball while on the ground but it slipped through his hands and was tapped in. A further goal was added after 30 minutes after the danger appeared to be cleared but a shot was smashed in from a tight angle on the right. The half-time score was made 1-4 when a Whitton forward struck a good shot high over Alex's head.

The only goal of the second half was scored by Luke Catchpole who became the eleventh different player to score for Brantham this season, leaving Alex, James Glen and Josh Bedingfield who have yet to get on the score sheet!

Brantham played some good football at times with their passing and movement deserving a bit more fortune in front of goal. While the defence generally played extremely well a few crucial lapses in concentration proved very costly. Man of the match went to James Dorling for his usual heroics in defence and Jamie Nunn who deserved more reward for some great runs down the left including what would have been a contender for goal of the season but the final shot flashed just past the far post.

Kirton 4 Brantham 0

Nil - nil at half time but second half performance in particular was awful from the whole team - lucky to get nil. Questions asked of all players.

Ipswich Warriors 2 Brantham 2

Vastly improved performance from previous game, found ourselves 2-0 down at half-time. Jamie then dislocated his knee but the team showed great determination and resilience to end up 2-2 with Toby scoring both goals.

Felixstowe 4 Brantham 1

Dreadful weather conditions - chose to play with the wind in the first half and got off to a good start within two minutes when Joe and Jason combined well before Josh Bedingfield ran forward and unleashed a superb left foot shot into the top left corner of the goal. Brantham played some good football throughout the half but could not add to their goal tally and Felixstowe drew level after 15 minutes.

Three minutes into the second half Felixstowe took the lead when the ball was knocked across the face of the goal for an easy tap-in. Four minutes later a wind-assisted shot was looped over Alex and three minutes from time Alex made a very good save but the rebound was put in.

Some good performances throughout the team, the second half was difficult, playing into a howling gale, punctuated with heavy hail showers. Matt had another excellent game in defence and Alex made some good saves, Josh Bedingfield gave a god performance and scored a stunning goal but Joe shaded the man of the match with an excellent display up front, good hold up play as a lone striker, good strength on the ball combined with usual good passing and awareness.

Josh became the 12th player in the 14 man squad to score this season

Kesgrave 2 Brantham 1

Arguably our best performance to date and we lost! 0-0 at half time with Kesgrave taking the lead nine minutes into the second half when the midfielder showed electric pace down the left and finished hard and low past Alex. Within 3 minutes some excellent work by Josh Maloney down the right allowed him to cross towards Joe when a defender diverted the ball in front of his own keeper to make it 1-1. Brantham had a number of chances and played some good football but Kesgrave scored the winner 10 minutes from time when a draw was probably the least we had deserved. Alex made one excellent high save, Matt was imperious again, Joe worked extremely hard up front and was unlucky on a couple of occasions but the entire team did themselves proud. Josh Bedingfield won man of the match for an outstanding performance in midfield. Could not fault the team at all - everyone worked hard for the whole game.

Brantham 5 Lawford 0

I guess the headlines should read Jamie Nunn is back! But that would detract slightly from some good work from the rest of the team. Lawford played a lot of the game with 10 men when one player received a back injury in the first half and Lawford's stand in goal keeper was responsible for keeping them in the game with several good saves when one-on-one. Brantham started without the ever-present James Dorling (virus) and Jason Pembroke (knee injury) which meant that Jamie Nunn volunteered to start as substitute despite not playing since dislocating his knee against Ipswich Warriors on December 4th.

Craig Lock opened the scoring after 16 minutes with a well taken finish following a good run and shot from Josh Bedingfield that the goalkeeper pushed away for Craig to place past him. Two minutes later Josh Maloney scored a great solo goal as he ran through the defence, rounded the keeper and scored into an empty net. The score remained at 2-0 until half-time and early in the second half Lawford were unlucky to see a shot rebound off the foot of the post for Alex to pick up. With 21 minutes remaining Jamie Nunn was unleashed and within 5 minutes he was racing onto a great through ball from Josh Bedingfield to score. Three minutes later a big clearance from Alex was headed backwards by a Lawford player and Jamie raced onto it and calmly scored his second. In the 65th minute Joe set Jamie free again to complete his hat-trick in the space of ten minutes to make it a memorable return.

While there were some good performances from a number of players the overall performance was probably not as good as when losing against Kesgrave the week before! But Craig did well in his first full game for a while, Joe did well but is missing out on a bit of luck in front of goal, Josh Bedingfield continued his good series of performances and Alex did well in goal (thanks to Sheena) but while Jamie grabbed the headlines the performance of the defence against a lively Lawford attack was crucial to the victory, with another strong, fast and commanding performance from Matt winning him the man of the match award.

Grange Park 1 Brantham 5

It took 23 minutes before Brantham took the lead despite being the dominant side, Toby Prior's long throw found Ed Nobbs on the left and Ed cut in and scored off the inside of the post. Six minutes later Matt Longson lifted a clever ball forward which Josh Maloney headed on for Joe Graffham to round the keeper and make the score 0-2 at half time.

Alex came out for the second half with Jamie Glen going in goal and within 7 minutes Alex knocked a good ball through which Ed flicked on for Jamie Nunn to score. Two minutes later Alex raced down the left and cut the ball back across the face of the goal and a defender knocked it past his own keeper for an own goal. Grange Park then pulled a goal back before Ed found Jamie Nunn down the line and Joe turned his cross goal ball in for his second of the game.

A good performance if a little patchy with the left side combining well but man of the match went to Josh Bryan for a commanding performance at right back.

Bacton 0 Brantham 5

Five goals for the third week running! Brantham got off to the best possible start when Toby's throw found Josh Bedingfield who powered his way down the left and crossed for Jamie Nunn to score within a minute but that was the only goal of the first half.

Three minutes into the second half Jamie Nunn delivered an excellent corner from the right which was cleared as far as Josh Maloney near the edge of the area and he struck an excellent shot that the goalie could not keep out. In the 55th minute Jason Pembroke knocked an excellent ball over the defence for Ed Nobbs to run onto, his first shot hit the post but he reached the rebound first and turned to hit the ball towards the goal and the keeper could do nothing other than help it into the back of the net. Eight minutes later another excellent Jamie Nunn corner on the right was missed by everyone and reached Toby at the far post, his shot went in off the right hand post. Two minutes later another excellent corner (getting predictable isn't it) from Jamie was turned in at the far post by Toby to make it 5-0.

Alex did well in goal including one fantastic tip over the bar, Joe and Jamie worked well up front and the defence was solid with Matt doing a brilliant man-marking job but Josh Bedingfield took the man of the match award for a strong, aggressive and skilful display in midfield. Another very good team performance.

Bourne Vale 4 Brantham 0

I was sick and missed the game - a good one to miss by all accounts!

Brantham 6 Woodbridge 4

Fell behind after 2 minutes when the defence failed to clear but then gradually came into the game more and more until Toby went on an excellent run down the left before picking Jamie Nunn out on the edge of the area with his back towards goal, Jamie turned and placed an exquisite shot in the top right corner to make it 1-1.Continued to play well but two minutes before the break Woodbridge took the lead as the shot went under Alex to make it 1-2 at half time.

Four minutes into the second half Josh Bedingfield had an excellent run down the left, leaving defenders in his wake before finding Ed who evened things up at 2-2. Within two minutes Woodbridge regained the lead with a shot that squirmed under Alex and then in the tenth minute a good lob from distance looped over Alex's head. Alex then made a superb close range block and somehow pushed the follow-up shot away with a strong hand. Thirteen minutes in Jason had a sliding shot blocked by the keeper and Joe followed up to make it 3-4. Four minutes later Jason found Ed, whose shot was parried and Joe followed up to turn in the rebound left-footed. In the 28th minute Joe and Josh Bedingfield did well before the ball fell to Jamie Nunn who hit another shot with strength and height to give Brantham a 5-4 lead. With five minutes remaining Toby won the ball and pushed a perfect pass through for Joe to run onto , round the keeper and score the final goal completing his hat trick.

It was very pleasing to see Joe's recent great form finally getting his deserved reward with a hat-trick but Jamie Nunn's contribution pipped him to man of the match for a tremendous work-rate and 2 superbly taken goals. Josh Bedingfield's contribution in midfield was once again immense, not forgetting some excellent saves from Alex that kept the team's hopes alive at crucial times. A very pleasing team performance with plenty of character and determination not forgetting some superb football.

Whitton B 0 Brantham 1

Pretty poor performance compared to recent weeks, both teams wasted good chances with Joe, Ed and Jamie Nunn all missing good chances due to 'unpredictable bobbles'. Joe finally broke the deadlock with five minutes to go after James Glen sent Ed down the left and his cross was missed by everyone before Josh Bedingfield knocked the ball back from the left and Joe Graffham swivelled and hit the ball home. Not a classic although Brantham did have a few flashes of brilliance down the left.

Matt was back to his old self and James Dorling was majestic, arriving on the scene in the nick of time to make some absolutely vital challenges when it looked as if the strikers were through on goal. James Glen won man of the match with a faultless performance at left back, not just doing well in breaking up the attacks but then setting up a lot of the Brantham attacks also. Credit to the strikers for persevering and having the courage to keep going despite some almost comical misses.

Whitton A 2 Brantham 3

Brantham went behind after 9 minutes when a lob from distance dropped just under the crossbar giving Alex no chance. Within 2 minutes the scores were level when a pass from Joe Graffham was only half cleared and Jamie Nunn pounced to put the ball hard and high into the right hand side of the net.Five minutes later Joe Graffham gave chase to a through ball when two defenders looked favourites but Joe managed to get there first and give Brantham the lead.

Sixteen minutes into the second half Jason's throw was pulled back by Josh Bedingfield and Joe turned and shot in one movement to make it 3-1. Whitton continued to apply the pressure and pulled a goal back with 14 minutes remaining but Brantham held on for victory.

It is no exaggeration to say that each and every player played well and contributed to the result which gives an indication of how well the man of the match played because he still stood out among so many good performances. James Dorling was everywhere at the back almost completely stifling Whitton's main threat as well as providing cover for his team mates and making some last second challenges that seemed impossible. Also a special mention for the luckless Craig Lock who was prevented from getting on the pitch by his colleagues performances but took it in his usual good humour.

Martlesham 0 Brantham 1 (aet)

An evenly balanced game with both sides having chances. Josh Bedingfield struck an excellent shot from distance which the goalie could only parry but no one followed it up for an easy tap-in. Following a Martlesham corner there was a goal-mouth scramble and Luke Catchpole somehow managed to hit a goal-bound shot on the line with the top of his shoulder against the bar before it was scrambled away. Alex also tipped a fierce drive over the crossbar late on in normal time. Jamie Nunn had several good efforts that just would not go in.

The winner came 2 minutes into extra time from another good corner by Jason which dropped close to the goal-line before Josh Bedingfield managed to poke it over the line through a crowd of players.

Some good performances, Alex did everything perfectly, the 4 defenders all had good games with James Dorling probably standing out slightly more, Jamie Nunn worked tirelessly up front  and went close to scoring a number of times.

Brantham 2 Ipswich Warriors 2

Joe Graffham gave Brantham the lead after 6 minutes when he cut in from the right and drilled his shot low and hard at the near post the power of the shot forced it past the goalkeeper. In the 21st minute Luke Catchpole knocked a superb ball forward down the left which Ed ran onto before looping a shot over the advancing keeper to make it 2-0. With 5 minutes to go the Brantham midfield failed to close down the ball allowing Ipswich time to pick out a pass over the top of the Brantham defence and the forward lobbed Alex as he advanced.

Eleven minutes into the second half James Dorling tried to win a goal kick but the ball ricocheted back into play and allowed Ipswich to equalise.

A good team performance and a good result which was tainted slightly by the fact that a 2-0 lead was allowed to slip. Still some excellent football was played with the defence looking good throughout. Jamie Nunn worked his socks off and some of the passing was excellent at times. Man of the match went to Alex for a commanding performance - a couple of outstanding saves and consistently good kicks combined with a dominance of his area and good alertness to any through balls.

Brantham 3 Knodishall 3

Knodishall pressed hard in the first half and it was no surprise when they took the lead after 24 minutes when Matt was racing back towards goal, holding off a Knodishall forward while Alex raced out of goal, somehow neither Brantham player cleared the ball and the Knodishall player skipped around Alex and scored in the empty goal.Within 2 minutes Joe Graffham did well to muscle a defender off the ball and as he attempted to round the keeper he was pulled down and despite the most terrible dive the ref correctly awarded a penalty which Joe converted with aplomb. Despite this brief respite Brantham fell behind in the 29th minute when A ball over the top allowed a Knodishall forward to run through and as Alex advanced he lobbed him superbly to give Knodishall a 2-1 half-time lead.

If Knodishall dominated the first half then Brantham improved after half time to shade the second half. Nine minutes in some excellent Brantham pressure allowed Craig to run in and shot from the right hand-side but his goal-bound effort was handled by a defender to give Brantham their second penalty. Joe stepped up confidently and buried it in the corner to take the score to 2-2. Eighteen minutes in Brantham took the lead for the first time when Jamie Nunn did extremely well to win the ball, took it forward and then played a perfect ball into Joe's path, Joe cut in from the left with defenders in his wake as he cut inside and placed a shot just inside the right hand post with perfect precision. Three minutes later Knodishall equalised when a corner from the left found it's way through the crowded penalty area for a simple tap-in at the far post. In the final minute Joe and Jamie combined again in a reversal of the third goal, Joe Graffham did well to win the ball and placed an excellent pass for Jamie Nunn to run onto, as he rounded the keeper he stretched to cut the ball back at a tight angle but the ball just curled away from the right hand post to leave the results level.

A lack-lustre first half was followed by a much brighter second half. Alex made his usual good saves and James Dorling absence certainly showed but there were still some good defensive performances with Jamie Nunn still working well and not getting his rewards but Joe was probably man-of-the-match with a commanding display up front, scoring a hat-trick as well as working hard and setting up chances.

Brantham 1 Kirton 0

The only goal of the game was scored by Jamie Nunn when he curled a corner from the right on target and the goalkeeper could only parry it into the net. Brantham had numerous other good chances with the goalkeeper making several good saves. A good overall team performance with some great play down both flanks, Josh Bryan was rock solid and Toby was tackling like a demon. Excellent work rate from all with Joe probably pipping man of the match for his effort, strength and skill.

Kirton 2 Brantham 1

In the 13th minute Alex made a fine save diving to his left to knock a shot round the post but 6 minutes later he could do nothing about a wind assisted shot that gave Kirton the lead. 20 minutes into the second half Jamie Nunn hit a shot low and hard to the right of the goalie to make it 1-1. In extra time Kirton played with the wind and with one minute left to half time the Kirton striker ran through to hit a shot hard into the far left corner. Brantham tried hard but could not manage to get the equaliser, the closest being when the Kirton keeper clawed a shot off the line.

Martlesham 0 Brantham 1

A tremendous performance from each and every player , Josh Bryan, Ed and Jason went to watch Ipswich play West Ham in the play-off semi-final, James Dorling was still injured and could not take part which meant Brantham played the entire game with 10 men but it never showed. Josh Maloney did superbly well at right back Toby was superb on the left and James Glen had a good game in central defence, Josh Bedingfield played with great determination, Jamie Nunn was everywhere and Joe worked his socks off up front. The goal came in the 25th minute when Matt and Josh Maloney had some superb exchanges before Jamie dribbled around a few defenders before unleashing a terrific strike in the top left corner that gave the keeper no chance. Some of the passing and movement was as good as we have played this season and the team displayed a great spirit and determination throughout. Probably Josh Maloney pipped the man of the match for adapting to the right back position as if he had played there all his life!
